The loss of AKA, formally known as Kiernan Jarryd Forbes has sent the nation into a state of grief. Following his tragic passing, fans will get to hear new music from the rapper one last time.
Mass Country to be released on February 24th
In a statement shared on Twitter, the Forbes family noted that Mass Country has been his “entire world for the past two years”. Their wish to release his album will be to honor his legacy.
The statement revealed that the new album will be according to the vision of the rapper as AKA had previously approved the creative direction of his latest album.
Co-Executive of Mass Country, Nivo shared,
“Kiernan worked tremendously hard on this project. He put his heart and his soul into it and we are blessed that he got the opportunity to map out his entire roll-out and approve all the elements, so what will be coming out will be as per his direction and his vision. We thank the Forbes family for their faith in the entire team working on this project.”

To date, AKA tragically passed away on Friday, 10th of February. The rapper was scheduled to perform at the YUGO nightclub as a part of his birthday festivities.
After getting ready to leave the restaurant Wish in Durban, AKA was ambushed by a gunman who reportedly fired six shots at close range. The rapper’s friend Tebello better known as Tibz was also fatally shot. It is reported that Kiernan died on the scene.
Memorial service and funeral arrangements
This weekend, the beloved Kiernan Forbes will be laid to rest in a private funeral ceremony. The rapper will reportedly have a private state funeral which will be sponsored by the government.
While the funeral will be a private ceremony, fans and peers who won’t be able to attend the ceremony will be able to live-stream the rapper’s memorial service on Friday. The service will be held live at 3 pm on Friday afternoon.
