After making the surprise announcement of her second pregnancy, fans are a bit skeptical about whether the singer will release new music or not, and to be quite frank, fans shouldn’t hold their breath for this right now.
Since the singer is now expecting baby number two it currently seems impossible for Rihanna to be focused on getting back to the studio when she is now running her fashion and beauty brands.
Will fans get a new album from Rihanna in 2023?
However, Rihanna recently spoke to Forbes Magazine and shared what the future holds for her music career.
In an exclusive interview with Forbes Magazine, Rihanna revealed that she would love to release new music this year! The only hindrance is the fact that she wants her album to be better than her last which is Anti.
The singer noted, “Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year.”
Even though the singer has been recording new music, Rihanna has not released new music since 2017. 2022 marks the first time the singer released new music for the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Starting a family and building on her career
Rihanna was nominated at the Oscars for best original song for the track Lift Me Up. The song is previously reported to be a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman who passed away after a long battle with cancer.
While reflecting on why she hasn’t released new music yet, Rihanna shared that the pressure of her previous album’s success is the reason why she hasn’t released new music yet.
She said, “there’s this pressure that I put on myself. That if it’s not better than that then it is not even worth it.”
In light of this, fans might get new tunes from the singer later this year. So it’s best to keep an eye out for any subtle announcements made by the singer on her social media platforms this year.
Apart from her career ventures, Rihanna has also put in the time to create a family of her own. The singer welcomed her first child with rapper ASAP Rocky in May 2022 and is now expecting her second child. The singer made the announcement at the Super Bowl earlier this month.
